Troppo for Troppo?

This weekend I was lucky enough to catch up with a great gal at a great lunch locaish. Café Troppo is one of the many new brunch/lunch hot spots which have recently cropped up in this fine city of ours. You hit up any one of these places and it seems like you have stumbled into an episode of ‘The hipsters of our lives’ with beards and spectacles as far as the eye can see! But hey, they are all super charming and I have no problem enjoying a meal with a vintage bike hangin’ out in my peripherals. That’s as long as I don’t hear anyone say ‘this is soooooo Melbourne.’ Please... Don’t.

Right on Whitmore Square, slap bang in the middle of the city, Café Troppo has really created a name for itself. The odds-and-ends décor is nothing short of an eclectic treasure with corrugated iron walls and stool cushions covered with recycled hessian sacks. The design itself is really worth a peek!

I started off with a freshly squeezed orange juice. This bad boy really hit the spot, a sex-tremely refreshing bev generously sized and served in a jar of course. TOTES hipster. I don’t know what it is about beverages in jars but it’s like a mint on your pillow. It makes things so much more special!

My lunchin’ lass and I decided to go with the ‘vegielafels,’ a serving of baked vegie patties made in-house from seasoned vegies, spiced, seasoned and served with flatbread, salad and homemade sauces. Although the patties were undeniably tasty, they were definitely too dry to get the full enjoyment. Lucky for us the dried out patties were saved by the pumpkin puree and homemade sauce that it was topped with. These certainly assisted in lubing up the meal as a whole. Yeh, I said it. LUUUUBED.

All in all, it was a very pleasant experience at the lovely Café Troppo. Although the patties were somewhere close to being as ‘dry as the Sahara,’ I still very much enjoyed the flavours and I will be heading back again soon to try out another dish which I don't doubt will blow my socks off.

Oh and if anyone noticed… You picked it! I AM bestest buds with an Olympic Runner! I’m so happy for beautiful Jess and her sensational run at the Olympics last year… but I’m mostly happy for myself because I figure being friends with an Olympian ups my cool points like WAY HIGH!

Oh and don't forget it's not too late to enter my awesome giveaway!! Just click HERE and answer the question for your change to win!

Until next time... Stay Rad-elaide.
