Getting Lucky with Lupita.

I have decided to shake things up a little at MTC and I am giving this week of Adelaide exploration a theme. What theme have a chosen? Suburban Surprises. It seems that amazing eateries are popping up in the most unlikely of places around town and I have decided that this week I am going to share a few of my suburban faves. So fasten your seatbelts followers cause it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Well I certainly wouldn’t have guessed it but it seems that the hottest new place in town is in Bedford Park. Yep, you need to hear that again? Bedford Park. And one more time for the cheap seats at the back? BEDFORD PARK! Now, I drive this way more often than I’d like as I go to Flinders Uni but it never occurred to me that the area of Bedford Park would have anything more to offer than pencils, books and dirty looks (or whatever else Alice Cooper uses to sum up education).

It seems however that I have been proven wrong as a little place called Lucky Lupitas has opened its doors and this Mexican & Latin American restaurant is blowing peoples’ culinary minds. I use the word ‘little’ to describe this place because that is exactly what it is. You’d be lucky if you could fit 20 sumo wrestlers in for tea and if you are unlucky enough to rock up right after 20 sumo wrestlers then make sure you bring a jacket because you will be out on the street like a hooker, waiting for someone to call “Cheque please!”

I have eaten at this place twice and both times there has been a wait. Now with that said, get in the line and quit your complainin’ because Lucky Lupitas is well worth the wait. The food is pure bliss with fresh Mexicana menu items that will leave you stuffed to the brim. The burgers, the nachos, the tacos, the ribs, I have seen or tasted them all and they all seem to be right on the money. The guacamole was the best I’ve had and my friend the ‘Burger Connoisseur’ herself, told me that their hamburgers are to die for.

The only criticism I would give this restaurant is that there is only one dessert option and in my opinion, it ain’t all that. Don’t Mexicans’ eat dessert? I might have to talk to them about that.

Cross my heart and hope to die… this place is worth the drive. So go get your Mexican on!

Until next time... Stay Rad-elaide
